Multiple agencies work grass fire near Hermiston

HERMISTON – Umatilla County Fire District No. 1 (UCFD1) responded to a grass fire near Oregon Highway 207 near Hermiston on Friday.

UCFD1 responded to the fire at 1:13 p.m., which also involved a silage pile. Mutual aid was provided by Echo Fire and Umatilla Rural Fire Protection District.

At around 4:03 p.m. UCFD1 reported that the grass fire was out but the silage pile remained burning. As of 8:00 p.m. some smoke, albeit much less then in the initial photos, could still be seen coming from the site.
