Multiple agencies respond to fire east of Pendleton

PENDLETON – Multiple agencies assisted in a motorhome fire east of Pendleton on Tuesday night.
Umatilla Tribal Police responded to a report of a motorhome on fire at 10:10 p.m. at 44752 Mission Road, and found a motorhome completely engulfed in flames. A nearby trailer and tree also began to burn as a result of the fire. Pendleton Fire & Ambulance responded and made a quick knockdown of the fires.
The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO) also responded, and since the fire was not on the reservation Tribal police cleared the scene and UCSO took over as the primary agency. Umatilla Tribal Fire Department Chief James Hall responded after Pendleton Fire requested mutual aid, but he said when he responded to the scene no additional assistance was needed.
“Fire agencies and law enforcement agencies work closely on events like this,” says Hall.
The fire began as a result of work being done on the motorhomes engine. There was nobody inside the motorhome or the trailer.
