MILTON-FREEWATER – [News release from Milton-Freewater Police Department Chief Joe Shurtz] Today the Milton-Freewater Police Department partnered with the Blue Mountain Enforcement Narcotics Team (Hermiston PD, Pendleton PD, Oregon State Police, FBI, Boardman PD, Umatilla Tribal PD, and Morrow County Sherriff’s Office), Umatilla County Sherriff’s Office, Parole and Probation, Umatilla County Corrections and US Marshalls in an operation to locate arrest warrants and individuals who have failed to comply with their sex offender registration requirements.

During this operation we made 17 arrests and cleared 21 arrests warrants. Two of those arrests were regarding sex offender registrations. There was one recovered motorcycle, and we took 21 pills of fentanyl off the streets.

I want to personally thank all agencies who came out and assisted the Milton-Freewater Police Department today. I want to thank all the people involved in the logistics and making this operation happen.

This operation was designed to hold offenders accountable and make Milton-Freewater a safer place for all of us.
