Multi-county charges delay court proceedings for eluding suspect who crashed into Dayton property

DAYTON, Washington — Overlapping criminal cases across county lines have delayed court proceedings for a local man facing charges in multiple jurisdictions, Columbia County officials said Tuesday.

During a Tuesday afternoon hearing in Columbia County Superior Court for Skylar Ian Glasby, 37, Prosecuting Attorney Nickolas Ward noted a tentative plea offer was extended in May. However, defense attorney Randy Reed explained that Glasby’s defense is currently trailing unresolved cases in neighboring Walla Walla County, which will directly impact how the local charges are handled. Reed requested a continuance until the status of the outside case is clear.

Walla Walla County Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney April King confirmed to Elkhorn Media Group that Glasby’s trial there is scheduled to begin July 20.

Expressing urgency to advance the Columbia County case, Judge Thomas Cox urged both sides to swiftly obtain the necessary information. Cox scheduled the next hearing in Dayton for July 22.

Glasby faces charges in both counties stemming from an April 26, 2025, incident. Authorities allege Glasby fled from law enforcement in a vehicle without license plates, driving recklessly through Waitsburg and Prescott before crashing into a property in Dayton.

Deputies from Columbia and Walla Walla counties pursued Glasby and established a perimeter. With the assistance of a K9 unit, law enforcement located and arrested Glasby, who was found hiding inside a Dayton trash can.

Court records indicate Glasby faces multiple charges across both jurisdictions and has a history of law enforcement contacts spanning Washington and Oregon.
