The City of Mt. Vernon is excited to announce the award notice of a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from Business Oregon for a crucial water project. The grant enables the City to move forward with the final design for the replacement of Holmberg Well, water main upgrades at Beech Creek crossing, and replacement of water meters city-wide. Acknowledging recent rate increases and anticipating future needs, the City will be applying for additional grants for capital construction. Grateful for invaluable partners, the City continues to work on improving affordability for residents. One strategy includes addressing housing shortages and restoring monthly service to previously developed areas to improve cost ratios. A housing code audit, funded by multiple grants from DLCD, aims to review and improve opportunity for housing and promote housing diversity in a way that improves choice and affordability. City is seeking community involvement in this process, those interested can contact Recorder Chantal DesJardin at 541-932-4688 or cmtv@ortelco.net.
