MT. VERNON – Firefighting resources with the Mt. Vernon Fire Department responded to a small fire on Monday, June 8th, near Jenkins Road, west of Mt. Vernon.
Scanner traffic indicated a utility pole was on fire, that was threatening a structure. Mutual aid from the John Day Fire Department was originally requested, but soon after Mt. Vernon Fire’s arrival, the scene was under control and John Day Fire was called to stand down. The call came in around 12:52 p.m. A cause of the fire has not been released.
