Mounties Rank in Top 30 in Learfield Directors’ Cup Fall Standings

LA GRANDE (Release from Eastern Oregon University) – The final NAIA Learfield Directors’ Cup fall standings were released Thursday and Eastern Oregon ranked in the top 30 nationally sitting at 27th with 147.5 points.

Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in the NAIA fall championships of men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s and women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball.

The Mountaineers strong fall position comes after stellar performances from EOU Volleyball and Men’s Cross Country during the 2022 fall season. Eastern Oregon volleyball lead the way with a third-place finish in the National Tournament. Men’s Cross Country ended their season with a 12th place finish at the National Championships in mid-November.

Eastern Oregon was one of five CCC schools to finish in the top-50 finishing behind only College of Idaho and Southern Oregon University. Finishing behind EOU was Corban in 40th and Lewis-Clark State in 43rd.

The LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. The winter standings will begin distribution on Thursday, March 30.

Please note, standings published midseason are unofficial. Official standings will be published upon the completion of the spring season.
