Mountaineers Football Moves Five Spots in National Rankings

LA GRANDE – (Information provided by EOU Athletics)  The NAIA has announced its first edition of the FirstDown PlayBook Coaches’ Top-25 poll, and Eastern Oregon University has moved up in the rankings. The Mountaineers check in at No. 13 in the first regular season poll as announced by the national office.
 
The Mountaineers were tabbed No. 18 in the preseason poll and a 2-0 start to the year moved them up five spots to No. 13 in the first regular season set of rankings. Eastern has picked up wins this season against Montana Tech and Montana Western to stay undefeated.
 
Out of the Frontier Conference, three other teams are garnering national attention in Montana Western, Rocky Mountain College, and College of Idaho. The Bulldogs are 23rd after a 2-1 start to the season. The Battlin’ Bears (2-0) are ranked No. 24 right behind UMW. College of Idaho is in the receiving vote’s category after starting the year 1-1.
 
The Mountaineers are back in action this weekend following a bye week. Eastern will be on the road as the team takes on Carroll College in Helena, Montana. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. PT/1 p.m. MT.
