LA GRANDE – (Information provided by EOU Athletics) It’s 2022, which means baseball season is nearly here! Eastern Oregon University is excited to announce its full 2022 schedule, which will feature four home series and a full slate of non-conference action.
The Mountaineers 2022 schedule has 51 total games on tap with a total of 12 series ready to go. Of the 51 games listed, 27 will be non-conference bouts.
Eastern will look to contend in the team’s second season since reinstatement. The team battled all through the spring season last year, despite obstacles from the global COVID-19 pandemic. EOU posted a 5-31 overall record and went 5-27 in CCC play. Returning to lead the Mountaineers in year two is Head Coach Mike McInerney. He formed the newly assembled EOU squad ahead of the 2021 campaign and will look to have his team contending in one of the toughest NAIA conferences in the country in 2022.
EOU’s first set of games will be at the prestigious Coach Calderone Invitational hosted by Arizona Christian University and Benedictine University Mesa Jan. 27-29. EOU will face four different opponents over three days in No. 22 MidAmerica Nazarene, Embry-Riddle (Ariz.), Oklahoma Panhandle State, and No. 23 Benedictine Mesa.

The Mountaineer’s final three non-conference series will all be against opponents from the CCC. They begin with No. 4 Lewis-Clark State College Feb. 26-27 in Lewiston, Idaho. Each day will be a doubleheader match-up. In March, EOU begins the month facing College of Idaho in a four-game series that will span over two days. The Mountaineers and Yotes will face off March 6-7 in what will be EOU’s home opener at Optimist Field at Pioneer Park in La Grande.
The final non-conference series for EOU will take place March 12-13 on the road at Corban University. EOU begins CCC play March 19-20 with a four-game series at Oregon Tech. The Mountaineers then return home the following weekend to close out the month of March. They will play host to Bushnell University, March 26-27, in what will be the inaugural series between the two squads.
Eastern will begin the month of April traveling north of the border to Canada to face the University of British Columbia. The four-game series between EOU and UBC is scheduled for April 2-3. In late April, EOU will head down the road to Caldwell, Idaho to face the College of Idaho Yotes for a second time.
