LA GRANDE – (Information provided by EOU Athletics) The NAIA has released its fifth women’s volleyball coaches’ top-25 regular season poll and Eastern Oregon continues to be on the list. The Mountaineers remain in the top-15 of the rankings at No. 12.
Eastern moved up one spot from No. 13 as the team boasts a 21-5 overall record and is 16-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. The Mountaineers are also currently on a six-game winning streak.
EOU’s six-game win streak is the team’s second longest streak of the season as they had won nine straight during the first half of conference play. Currently, Eastern is second in the CCC standings with two weeks left to go in the regular season and has already clinched a berth to the 2021 CCC Volleyball Tournament.
Out of the CCC, EOU is one of three teams in the NAIA’s top-25 and there are four total gaining national recognition. Leading the Way is Corban at No. 7, two spots lower than the team’s previous ranking of No. 5. The Mountaineers come in next at No. 12, followed by Bushnell who enters the rankings from receiving votes to No. 23. Oregon Tech is in the receiving votes category.
The Mountaineers close out their home portion of their schedule next weekend against two in-state rivals. Eastern takes on Southern Oregon Friday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. The following day, Saturday, Oct. 30, EOU will battle Oregon Tech at 5 p.m.
