Motorcyclist injured in collision with semi

WALLULA – A collision on U.S. Highway 12 at Wallula Junction involving a semi-truck and motorcycle sent one person to the hospital. The accident occurred at 6:37 a.m. Tuesday.
The Washington State Patrol reports Rodney D. Sackett, 64, of Irrigon was riding a motorcycle eastbound on State Route 730 at U.S. Highway 12 and turned onto westbound U.S. Highway 12 striking a semi traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 12 at Wallula Junction. Sackett was transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center.
The driver of the semi, John L. Matilla, 55, of Weston was not injured.
Troopers said the cause of the collision is under investigation and that charges against Sackett are pending.
