KENNEWICK – A 41-year-old motorcyclist died when a SUV struck him at the intersection of State Route 397 and South Gum Street at 4:39 p.m. Saturday.
The Washington State Patrol said the fatal traffic collision occurred when a Toyota Highlander, driven by Ryan O. Estrada, 25, of Kennewick, failed to yield the right of way and struck a Honda motorcycle operated by Jacob M. Schouten, 41, of Pasco. Both the SUV and motorcycle were totalled.
Schouten, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene, according to WSP. Estrada was not injured.
Troopers said drugs or alcohol were not involved and the charges are pending against Estrada.
