Motel fire leaves one injured in Ontario

ONTARIO – (Release from Ontario Oregon Fire & Rescue) On September 12th, 2024, at 07:49am, Ontario Fire & Rescue was dispatched to Motel 6 at 275 NE 12th St in Ontario for reports of a fire.

Crews responded to find a working fire on the 2nd floor of the complex. One room was fully involved with fire expanding into the attic space. Mutual aid was requested from Fruitland Fire. Crews had the fire knocked down quickly and stopped it from spreading to any neighboring rooms or further into the attic space. In total 3 engines, 1 ladder truck, and 2 support apparatus helped with the operation.

Motel staff assisted with evacuating guests from the other rooms. Ontario Police Department was also on scene providing support.

Currently there is one confirmed injury. They were treated for burns on scene by Treasure Valley Paramedics and were then transported by Life Flight to a hospital.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing with the assistance of the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office.
