HEPPNER – Starting Wednesday, Zach Williams will be the new Morrow County deputy district attorney. Prior to joining Morrow County, Williams worked several years with the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office.
“While the position has been open for a while, I felt it was important to work and find the right person for the job,” Morrow County District Attorney Justin Nelson said. “Someone who has lived in our area, someone with experience with our judicial district and someone that knows prosecution. Zach comes to us with that experience, and he will be a great asset to Morrow County.”
Williams will also be assisting with Nelson’s county counsel duties. He will have offices in both Heppner and Irrigon but will primarily be working out of the new government building in Irrigon.
He replaces Richard Tovey who became Hermiston’s first in-house, full-time legal counsel last year after almost a decade as Morrow County’s deputy district attorney.
