Morrow County High School Internship Program breaks records in 2025-26 school year

BOARDMAN – The Morrow County High School Internship Program has been in existence for five years, and the last year was a record-breaking one. The collaboration among the InterMountain Education Service District (IMESD), the Morrow County and Ione school districts, and the Port of Morrow hosted a total of 75 interns. Those students logged a total of 7,819 work hours and earned more than $217,000.

Over the last five years, the program has connected students with 319 internship experiences across more than 60 different job openings. Over 85 percent of the interns agreed that the program is valuable for their academic and professional growth. Eighty percent stated that their internships directly influenced their future career and educational plans.

“By creating opportunities for students early on, this partnership continues to shape tomorrow’s leaders,” Port of Morrow Workforce Development Intern Kaylee Christy wrote in a news release. “We appreciate our dedicated school districts and local business partners for their collaboration and investment in our students’ futures.”
