Morgan Lake re-opened, effective Wednesday, August 28. Fires still prohibited

LA GRANDE – (Release from La Grande Parks and Recreation) Effective, Wednesday, August 28, 2024, The City of La Grande Parks & Recreation Department announces the re-opening of Morgan Lake to day use and overnight camping, but there are still no fires allowed because fuels remain critically dry. Portable cooking stoves are allowed.

“We follow the Oregon Department of Forestry’s guidelines,” Stu Spence, Parks & Recreation Director said. “ODF recently announced a slight decrease in fire danger across the region enabling us to re-open the lake.”
