Morgan Lake Fire Restrictions In Effect July 29, 2022

LA GRANDE – (Release from La Grande Parks and Recreation) In accordance with the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF), the City of La Grande Parks & Recreation Department announces fire restrictions at Morgan Lake effective July 29, 2022.

The City will be following the recommendation from ODF below: Fire danger is increasing in northeast Oregon and weather is changing to a typical summer pattern of warmer and drier conditions. Fire managers are increasing the public use restrictions, also referred to as Regulated Use Closure, on lands protected by the Oregon Department of Forestry in northeast Oregon. This declaration is initiated in an effort to prevent or minimize human-caused wildfires and to protect natural resources and public health and safety, as well as the rising fire danger and fuel conditions.

  • Open fires are prohibited, including campfires, charcoal fires, cooking fires, and warming fires
  • Portable cooking stoves using liquefied or bottled fuels are allowed.
  • Use of fireworks is prohibited
