DAYVILLE, OR – Additional information has been released regarding yesterday’s arrest in Dayville in connection to a stolen vehicle. According to Grant County Emergency Communications, on the morning of February 15th around 7:07 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and OSP originally responded to a parking complaint at the Dayville Mini Mart. It was learned the vehicle was stolen. The charges were listed for Daniel A Lopez’s arrest, and they include Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Felon in Possession (of a weapon), and Carrying Concealed according to dispatch documents. On the morning of February 15th near 6:30 am, a 2007 Toyota Rav4 was seen parked at the Dayville Minimart, which was found to be reported as stolen out of Deschutes County on the previous day.
The vehicle operator was reported as walking toward the Dayville School carrying a bouquet of flowers and a backpack.
Sgt. Komning with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and Sgt. Hutchison from the Oregon State Police along with Sheriff McKinley responded to the area. Sgt. Komning located the male subject who was later identified as Daniel Antonio Lopez, 34, out of Mt. Vernon.
Lopez was armed and initially uncooperative with Law Enforcement. He is now in custody at the Grant County Jail.
Sheriff McKinley would like to thank the citizens in Dayville that supplied the information that led to the rapid apprehension of Lopez.
