More information released on Wednesday’s lockdown incident

PENDLETON – Pendleton Police (PPD) have released more information on an incident that caused the lockdown of schools and businesses including Pendleton Early Learning Center on Wednesday morning.

PPD responded to multiple 911 calls that reported a vehicle crash and gunshot in the 1200 block of Southwest Goodwin Lane at around 8:26 a.m.

Upon PPD’s arrival and subsequent investigation officers learned that a resident in the 1300 block of Southwest Goodwin Lane had been the victim of a robbery. Two masked assailants forcibly entered the residence, and one of whom was armed with a firearm. The victim was assaulted by the assailants who also threatened bodily harm. Items of value were stolen including a firearm that belonged to the victim.

The victim managed to escape, at which point the assailants fled. In the following events a vehicle crash occurred, and one of the two assailants were detained by a witness until law enforcement arrived.

PPD says there was no active shooter or report of an active shooter. No injuries were reported resulting from a gunshot. PPD was assisted by the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office and Umatilla Tribal Police Department.
