More details released in I-84 vehicle fire

UMATILLA COUNTY โ€“ More details have been released about an accident that shut down one lane of traffic on westbound Interstate 84 east of Pendleton on Monday.

Oregon State Police say a Ford F250 made an unsafe lane change from the left to the right lane of travel and rear-ended the back of a semi-truck with a trailer that was traveling slower. The F250 became engulfed in flames which spread to the back of the trailer.

The Umatilla Tribal Fire Department responded to put out the fire.

The driver, a 45-year-old Oklahoma man, and three family members in the F250 suffered minor injuries and were evaluated by medics on the scene before being cleared. The driver of the semi, a 47-year-old man from Maryland, was uninjured.

The driver of the F250 was cited for no operators license and a warning for unlawful or unsignaled lane change. The family was given a courtesy ride to a Pendleton hotel.
