MILTON-FREEWATER – McLoughlin High School was temporarily evacuated Thursday after law enforcement informed school administration of a threat to the school.

“An odd sounding voice called in and told my dispatcher that he would blow up the school in 15 minutes,” Milton-Freewater Police Chief Doug Boedigheimer said.

The local dispatcher immediately called Umatilla County dispatch who then promptly notified Mac-Hi’s school resource officer, who went to work evacuating the building.

Boedigheimer said the initial call stating the threat was not the only call dispatch received around that time.

“This was reported to us among several other bogus calls made into our dispatch center, the purpose being to draw MFPD away from an area we were working at,” he said.

Milton-Freewater Unified School District Superintendent Aaron Duff said law enforcement eventually cleared the building and students were able to return to campus. School is in session today (Friday).
