MONUMENT – Housing shortages have been a problem all throughout Grant County. Monument School Superintendent Laura Thomas recently informed KJDY listeners that they’re building more staff housing at Monument School:

“Right now, we’re actually in the middle of building another staff house here on the district property. It will be a great opportunity when we post for an opening to be able to post that housing is available.

Last spring, I applied and received a grant for this project through the Eastern Oregon REN, which is the Regional Educator’s Network.”

Construction has already begun on the house. Superintendent Thomas said the home will be between 700 and 800 square feet.
