BAKER COUNTY – Baker School District Superintendent Casey Hallgarth (CH) recently spoke with Elkhorn Media Group (EMG) staff to provide an update on highlights from the district’s recent board meeting.
(EMG) Thank you for joining me, Casey. Let’s talk about some highlights from the school board meeting this week.
(CH) “At our monthly school board meeting last night, we had the honor of recognizing our Promise Student of the Month: Urijah Clark, a sixth grader at South Baker Intermediate, who is such a positive example to everyone around him.
We also received some great reports from our association presidents, board members, and district leadership.
A highlight for me was hearing from Ashlyn Dalton ASB President at the high school about all the wonderful things our students have been up to. Last week, Ashlyn’s submission to the VFW essay contest won 9th place in the Nation and we are so proud of her.
(EMG) That’s wonderful. Is there anything else that you’d like to share about the board meeting?
(CH) The board also adopted our budget calendar for the year. The proposed budget for the 2025-2026 school year will be published on April 30th, with our 1st budget committee meeting taking place on May 6th.
We would love to add some budget committee members before then to maximize community input, and anyone interested can pick up a copy of the budget committee application at the District Office.
