Mobile home fire causes highway closure

PILOT ROCK – Three different agencies responded to a fire in Pilot Rock Thursday that led to a brief closure of U.S. 395.

Pendleton Fire and Ambulance Chief Tony Pierotti says his department received the call at 4:23 p.m. and they responded along with the Pilot Rock Rural Fire Protection District and the Umatilla Tribal Fire Department. In total there was approximately 20 firefighters.

The fire was a mobile home along with several vehicles. Fire equipment had to be laid out across the roadway causing the closure.

One firefighter was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Pendleton for heat related issues, there were no other injuries as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
