GRANT COUNTY – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the John Day Basin, going into effect at 4:00 this afternoon (Tuesday), and lasting until 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mixed precipitation is expected with total snow accumulation up to one inch, and ice accumulation around a tenth of an inch. Plan on extremely slippery roads, sidewalks, and other surfaces.

While Grant County is experiencing subzero temperatures, John Day Public Works Manager Casey Myers reminds listeners to allow water taps to run at a slow trickle to prevent freezing, bursting, and breakage.

Dayville School is cancelled today due to the winter weather, according to school officials. Classes are expected to resume tomorrow, January 17th. Also, students at Grant School District #3 can expect the busses to run on snow routes until further notice.

Stay warm, stay tuned to the radio, and stay posted on Elkhorn Media Group outlets for updates.
