WALLA WALLA COUNTY – Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Richard Schram says that the body of Guadalupe “Andy” Benavides was found this morning (Tuesday) in a remote section of the county.
Here is the statement he issued:
On April 20, the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office put out a missing person bulletin looking for Guadalupe “Andy” Benavides DOB: 2-12-1976. Extensive searching was conducted in Walla Walla and Columbia Counties by many friends, family, volunteers, and law enforcement personnel.
Today, at approximately 0900hrs the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a red Ford truck identical to the one Mr. Benavides was last seen driving was parked in a wheat field out in north Walla Walla County. This area is fairly remote and down inside a steep ravine.
Multiple members of the Sheriff’s Office responded to this area and confirmed this to be the correct vehicle. Sadly, human remains were also discovered with the vehicle and confirmed to be Mr. Benavides. At this time, there does not appear to be any foul play involved and next of kin has been notified.
The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s would like to give our condolences to those who have been without Mr. Benavides and are now mourning. We would also like to thank the members of the public and our partner agencies who have assisted us in the search for Mr. Benavides over the last several difficult weeks.
