UPDATE: Zane Averett, said to be missing and in danger, was located Thursday

UPDATE: The Child Welfare Division of the Oregon Department of Human Services simply reported that Averett was found today. It gave no further details other than to thank those who helped in locating him.

UNION – (Release from the Oregon Department of Human Services) The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), Child Welfare Division, asks the public to help find Zane Averett, age 16, a child in foster care who went missing from Union, Oregon on July 8. Zane is believed to be in danger.

ODHS asks the public for help in the effort to find Zane and to contact 911, local law enforcement or Oregon Child Abuse Hotline by calling 1-855-503-SAFE (7233) if they believe they see him.

Zane frequently spends time in the cities of Union and Elgin. There is also a chance he is attempting to travel to Idaho.

Sometimes when a child is missing, they may be in significant danger and ODHS may need find them to assess and support their safety. As ODHS works to do everything it can to find these missing children and ensure their safety, media alerts will be issued in some circumstances when it is determined necessary.
