BAKER CITY — (Press release from the Baker City Fire Department) At approximately 6:43 am this morning, the Baker City Fire Department was dispatched to a fire outside a residence in the 3200 block of Riverpark Drive. Engine 2432 and Chief 2401 responded. While enroute, units were notified that the residents believed that they had extinguished the fire but had embers still “glowing”.
Upon arrival, Engine 2432 extinguished the remaining embers, searched the residence for any fire extension, and removed the smoke from the residence.
Chief 2401 requested a fire investigator to the scene, as the initial investigation indicated that the fire may be suspicious in nature. The Deputy Fire Marshal from the Oregon State Fire
Marshal’s office for the area was notified and conducted a further scene investigation.
There were no injuries reported. Damage to the residence was minimal, at approximately $5,000. The cause of the fire was undetermined.
