MILTON-FREEWATER — The search for Milton-Freewater’s next city manager is heading into its final stages this week as the public gets its first opportunity to meet the finalists.
The city has announced a community meet-and-greet scheduled for this Thursday from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Milton-Freewater Community Building. The public event will give residents a chance to interact directly with the city manager candidates, ask questions, and offer feedback.
Following the public reception, the Milton-Freewater City Council will convene the next evening to deliberate on the hiring process.
The city council has scheduled a back-to-back executive session and special session meeting for this Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Albee Room of the Milton-Freewater Public Library. Under Oregon public meetings law, city councils typically utilize executive sessions to consider the employment of a chief executive officer or public officer, allowing for private deliberations on personnel matters.
While the executive session will be closed to the general public, the council is slated to return to a special open session afterward, where any official actions or votes regarding the hiring process would take place.
Additional information and meeting updates can be accessed via the city’s official website at mfcity.com.
