WALLA WALLA – A man arrested by Walla Walla police this past summer for leaving a dog in a hot car while at a doctor’s appointment was sentenced Thursday afternoon in Walla Walla County Superior Court.
Larry Dean McIntosh, 76, of Milton-Freewater was given a deferred sentence by Judge Patricia Fulton.
“He needs to comply with all of the conditions of the judgment and sentence which is not owning any new animals and no new criminal law violations,” Rebecca Lemons, McIntosh’s defense attorney explained to Elkhorn Media Group.
Lemons said if McIntosh complies with the judgment and sentence, then in 12 months he can withdraw the plea and get the case dismissed. McIntosh will be monitored by district court probation for the 12-month period.
McIntosh was arrested June 9 and pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree animal cruelty. Despite veterinary efforts, the dog did not survive.
