MILTON-FREEWATER – Milton-Freewater City Recorder Leanne Steadman is the new temporary assistant city manager. She starts that position Dec. 1 and will be reevaluated in May.
Leanne Steadman, who has worked for the city for 24 years, is married to the Milton-Freewater Public Works Superintendent Brian Steadman. His position is normally overseen by the city manager.
City Manager Linda Hall, who is retiring in January, said it has been suggested that Brian Steadman continue to report to Hall as she will serve as project manager for the police station following her retirement.
Hall believes the city council will have chosen a permanent city manager by that time.
