WASHINGTON, D.C. — BlendJet is recalling 4.8 million portable blenders due to injury and fire risks.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission warned that BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders can overheat, catch fire, and experience blade breakage during use.

The recall follows 329 incidents of blade breakage, 17 cases of overheating or fires causing $150,000 in property damage claims, and 49 minor burn injuries, along with one reported laceration injury. Consumers are advised to immediately cease using the recalled blenders and contact BlendJet for a free base unit replacement.

BlendJet noted that the recall pertains to older BlendJet 2 blenders, with current models featuring updated components that address these safety concerns. BlendJet 2 blenders with serial numbers starting from “5543” or higher are not subject to the recall. Customers can verify their blender’s recall status on BlendJet’s website or by contacting the company directly.

The recalled BlendJet Portable Blenders were sold online and in stores at retailers like Costco, Walmart, and Target between October 2020 and November 2023.
