MFPD mourn passing of Officer Scott Hays

MILTON-FREEWATER – The Milton-Freewater Police Department is mourning the death of Officer Scott Hays, who served more than 16 years with the department.
Chief Joe Shurtz announced Hays’ passing on the department’s Facebook page Sunday night.
“Officer Hays was great man, husband and father,” Shurtz said. “He will be missed by everyone.”
Shurtz explained that Oregon State Police is stepping in to take calls within the city limits while MFPD deals with Officer Hay’s passing.
“Thank you for everyone’s understanding and patience during this very difficult time,” Shurtz said.
