PENDLETON – Farmer and community leader Tim Hawkins’ memorial service is planned for Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Pendleton Convention Center. A public reception will follow at 6 p.m. in the Let ’er Buck Room at the Round-Up Grounds. Hawkins died on July 11 at the age of 74.

After graduating from Oregon State University in 1974, he returned to his hometown and began his career as a farmer, but he did much more than farm.

He co-chaired the Centennial Committee for the Pendleton Round-Up in 2010. He served as president of both the Round-Up and Happy Canyon. He was chairman of the St. Anthony Hospital Board of Directors and the Pendleton Grain Growers. He was named Pendleton’s Man of the year in 2022 and was the grand marshal of the Westward Ho! Parade in 2025.

He was a devoted father of four and grandfather of 14 children. He also leaves his wife, Jennifer Hawkins. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Let ’er Buck Cares Foundation or a charity of choice.
