Medical transportation driver arrested for DUII in Harney County

Harney County (Released by Oregon State Police)-Friday Night, January 26, 2024, Oregon State Police conducted a traffic stop on a medical transportation vehicle (a private company that does medical transportation, NOT Harney District Hospital) that was driving at excessive speeds and nearly drove head on into an oncoming line of traffic. The vehicle driven by Ronald Joseph Abbott, 63, of Redmond, was stopped near mile post 123 on Hwy 20.

Abbott denied consuming alcohol, but indications of impairment were observed, and Abbott consented to field sobriety tests. Further evidence of impairment was observed and Abbott them admitted to having drank alcohol.

Abbott was arrested for DUII and Reckless Driving and was transported to the Harney County Jail where he registered a BAC of .12%.
