EASTERN OREGON – Med Transport Inc. in Eastern Oregon has suspended interfacility transport service with both St. Alphonsus in Baker City and Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande.
Chris Arvidson owner-operator of Med Transport Inc had this to say about the suspended services, “If Grande Ronde Hospital and the Baker City Hospital are willing to negotiate contracts with Med Transport that will benefit our service and the Community we serve; we would be more than happy to start taking inter-facility transports again. We have taken a lot of patients to higher level of care Hospitals in the past 5 years. We understand the positive impact our service has on our Community. Unfortunately, we also understand that suspending our service will negatively impact many. It’s now up to the Hospitals. Hopefully they will see the value in our service and proceed accordingly. “
Mardi Ford with Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande released the following statement, “we aware that Med Transport has decided to suspend their services. In talking with other transport partners, however, we remain confident in their ability to support the needs of our community as they arise.”
Priscilla Lynn, CNO & President with Saint Alphonsus released the following statement, “Transportation services are a continuing challenge in rural Eastern Oregon. Saint Alphonsus Medical Center – Baker City is committed to providing the highest quality care and service for our patients and community. We strive to work with all our local service providers to offer that care.”
