MCSO seeking info on commercial aircraft laser pointing incident

HARPER — The Malheur County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information regarding a small commercial aircraft that experienced a situation where a green laser was pointed onto its cockpit on the morning of Wednesday, May 13th over the Harper area.

Backcountry Deputy Sr. Perkins stated, “Pointing a laser at an aircraft is a serious federal offense and creates a dangerous situation for pilots, passengers, and those on the ground. Under 18 U.S. Code § 39A, individuals may face significant fines and up to 5 years imprisonment.”
