COLLEGE PLACE – Mayor Norma Hernandez is scheduled to deliver her state of the city address at 6:30 p.m. today (Tuesday). She is expected to report on budgetary issues and cover major issues like the impact of the pandemic on the city, the investment in infrastructure, and planning for the future.
Immediately after the mayor’s speech, the city council will convene its regular meeting. On the agenda is the proposal that instead of contracting with a lawyer in private practice to serve the city when needed, College Place hire a full-time city attorney. If approved, the city attorney would be provided an office in the police department across from the police chief’s office.
The council will also discuss the next steps in the city’s Urban Forestry Management Plan, and consider a proposal that a second round of traffic box wrap art projects. Eight colorful wraps were installed late this past winter, and the proposal is seven more be decorated.
The mayor’s speech and the council meeting are streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel or via Zoom. The meeting ID is 972 1326 4643. Those who wish to comment during the meeting must contact the city clerk for a special link no later than 4:30 p.m. the day of the meeting. Email lneissl@cpwa.us.or.
