HUNTINGTON — A letter has been issued to the citizens of Huntington from Mayor Chuck Guerri, addressing city right-of-way parking, as well as problems around illegal dumping. Find Mayor Guerri’s letter below:
(From Huntington Mayor Charles Guerri)
Dear residents of Huntington,
I would like to thank you for electing me to serve as your Mayor, and I look forward to leading us into the next couple years.
There are a couple of issues I would like to personally make you all aware of:
Under the Council’s direction we will be working to enforce City Ordinances more consistently. One of the ordinances we are going to be actively addressing is parking and City right of ways. Unlicensed vehicles, inoperable vehicles, abandoned items etc. will not be allowed on city right of ways. Many of you have already started cleaning and clearing the areas around your properties and we appreciate your efforts. City right of ways are for short term parking, snow removal, fire and first responders access as well as police use. The weather has slowed the process a bit but our goal is to have the major areas of concern cleared up by spring. If you could do your part, it would be greatly appreciated. We are here to help you with the process. If you need assistance with removal or guidance please reach out to City Hall and we will help as we can.
The second issue I would like to bring to everyone’s attention is the illegal dumping and theft of property that has been occurring at the transfer station. This is illegal activity and it needs to stop. Once items are brough[t] on site, they need to stay there for recycling and/or proper disposal. We are putting safeguards in place to prevent this from happening and persons entering the area unlawfully will be turned over to BCSD for prosecution. Damage has been done to neighboring property as well, so let’s put an end to this illegal activity.
I am always willing to have a conversation with anyone with questions or concerns. Copies of all City Ordinances are available for viewing at City Hall.
Let’s all work together to make our little town the best it can be.
Thank You
Charles (Chuck) Guerri
