PASCO – The Pasco Police Department has contacted the region’s Special Investigations Unit to investigate a use of force incident after a man armed with a machete was shot and killed by an officer Thursday night.
At 6:46 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to a man armed with a machete chasing people in the shopping center parking lot near 32nd and Court Street.
Officers arrived and contacted the armed man. Despite de-escalation attempts, the man charged at the officers. One officer shot at the man striking him with gunfire, stopping his aggression. Officers immediately rendered medical aid, but the man died at the scene.
No further information has been released regarding this incident. The Pasco Police Department said further details will come from the Special Investigations Unit.
