WALLA WALLA – A Walla Walla man was sentenced earlier this week on felony charges of possession with intent to deliver heroin, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, plus obstructing a law enforcement officer. The charges against Dane Marcus Forss, 26, came after he was arrested on February 5, 2021, on an outstanding warrant.

On the day of his arrest, Forss was seen standing with another man near a vehicle in front of a home on the 100 block of East Cherry Street. When the officer attempted to contact Forss, he ran away on foot, but was taken into custody a short time later. During the short foot pursuit, an officer thought he saw an item in Forss’ hand, but when he was arrested, Forss did not have the item.

According to court documents, after his arrest Forss called a female friend from the jail telling her to contact another friend to go to the place of his arrest and pick up his beanie.

Two days after Forss’ arrest, police were called back to a home near the location where Forss was arrested. A resident gave the officer a dark grey beanie-style hat which matched the description Forss had given on the recorded phone call to his female friend from the jail. Inside the beanie were two large bags of methamphetamine, one baggie of heroin and one baggie containing illicitly made fentanyl pills. The beanie and baggies containing drugs were collected and processed as evidence.

A jury found Forss guilty of all charges and a Judge Scott Wolfram sentenced him to a total of five years in prison, with 226 days credit for time already served.
