UNION COUNTY – (Information provided by Oregon State Police)On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at approximately 6:29 AM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 84 near milepost 285 at North Powder.
Preliminary investigation revealed a westbound Dodge 3500 pickup pulling a 20’ trailer, operated by Robert Miller (54) of Shelton, Washington, left the roadway into the median. The vehicle combination continued down a steep embankment and overturned on the railroad tracks.
Miller sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Union Pacific Railroad traffic was interrupted for several hours until the tracks could be cleared.
OSP was assisted by Union County Sheriff’s Office, La Grande Fire Department and ODOT.
