WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Police Department reports a 20-year-old man was shot early Saturday morning during an altercation at the Circle K, 315 North Second Street. The suspects are still at large.
The victim was rushed to the hospital. His condition is unknown at this time, but WWPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Nick Loudermilk said he’s expected to live.
Just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday, WWPD received a call from someone at the Circle K reporting someone had just been shot, and that the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle. When officers arrived, they found the victim had sustained a gunshot wound. An ambulance arrived a short time later and transported the victim to Providence St. Mary Medical Center.
At this time in the investigation, both the victim and suspect arrived at the Circle K at about the same time in separate vehicles. A verbal altercation ensued between multiple parties, followed by a physical altercation between the victim and another male from the other vehicle. During the physical altercation, the suspect presented a handgun and fired multiple shots at the victim, striking him at least once. The suspect and all parties who arrived with him fled in their vehicle.
Investigators believe the suspect and victim knew each other. Saturday’s shooting is not related to the shooting that took place on North Roosevelt Street on Thursday.
Loudermilk added there is currently no danger to the public at large. The investigation is active and on-going.
