CANYON CITY – A man will spend time in jail and on probation, plus pay thousands of dollars in fines for stealing a motor vehicle and not showing up to court.
Earlier this week in Grant County Circuit Court Shaun Michael Stearns, 45, pleaded guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, committed on or about November 7th, 2020, as well as Failure to Appear in the First Degree committed in November 2021 and Failure to Appear in the Second Degree, committed in December of 2023.
Stearns was sentenced to 10 days in jail, placed on Supervised Probation for 18 months, and ordered to pay $5,250 in compensatory and other fines. One count was disposed with no conviction.
