HERMISTON – Hermiston police have arrested Pascual Mateo Francisco, 28, of
Hermiston charging him with attempted murder and second-degree assault. Police
Chief Jason Edmiston said that he was arrested Sunday night following investigation
into an incident that occurred at 1210 W. Madrona Ave. on Saturday and prompted
several people to call 911.
“Just before arriving, dispatch advised this was a medical call,” Edmiston wrote.
“Officers continued and found large amounts of blood in the driveway of the residence.”
Shortly after the officers arrived, Good Shepherd Medical Center officials reported they
were treating a 27-year-old man who lived at the address in question for multiple stab
wounds. Edmiston said in the ensuing investigation, officers learned that the man had
been stabbed by his sister-in-law’s boyfriend, Francisco, who had fled the scene.
Officers found the suspect sleeping in his car behind Pepe’s Market on West Hermiston
Avenue. Edmiston reports Francisco was taken into custody without incident. He gave
police permission to search his vehicle and a knife was seized. The police chief said it’s
possible the knife was used during the assault.
