UKIAH – An Alaska man was hospitalized Wednesday after crashing his motorcycle off U.S. Route 395 south of Ukiah.

According to an Oregon State Police report, the 72-year-old man failed to negotiate a curve and laid the motorcycle down in a gravel pullout area a few miles south of the Ukiah turnoff. The vehicle then went over a steep embankment before coming to a rest among boulders at a creek bank.

The driver, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to a hospital with a possible serious injury. An update on his condition was not immediately available.
