CANYON CITY – A man was recently convicted on multiple wildlife charges in Grant County Circuit Court.
Our newsroom is still working out the official details of what specifically occurred. Christopher Matson, 48, pleaded guilty to 7 counts of Taking, Angling, Hunting, or Trapping in a Violation of Wildlife Law or Rule, occurring in September of 2022.
Matson had his hunting license revoked for life, was sentenced to 18 months on Bench Probation with special conditions, and ordered to pay $52,500 in fines. As part of the special conditions, Matson must complete 300 hours of community service and forfeit all firearms and contraband involved in the crimes.
