KENNEWICK – A Benton County jury has found Ramon Alejandro Candido guilty of second-degree murder and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. Prosecuting Attorney Erik Eisinger said the jury also found that Candido used a firearm in the commission of the murder and that his conduct demonstrated an egregious lack of remorse.

On April 20, 2022, Candido shot and killed Ezekiel Sanchez, 25, at the intersection of First Avenue and Dayton Street in Kennewick, while Sanchez was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle. Candido argued that he was acting in self-defense.

The jury disagreed. The verdict was handed down last week. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
