HEPPNER – Morrow County District Attorney Justin Nelson says Anthony Alan Daulton, 40, of Las Vegas faces three felony charges as well as two misdemeanors in the crash that killed a Umatilla man and his teenage son on Interstate 84. Nelson said that a Morrow County grand jury will hear the state’s case against Daulton this week.
Daulton and a passenger were also injured in the wrong-way crash. After he was released from a hospital, he was taken to the Umatilla County Jail where he was formally charged with two counts of first-degree manslaughter, one count of second-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants, and reckless driving. He was arraigned before Judge Dan Hill on July 24. Records from the Umatilla County Jail indicate he bailed out on July 26.
Hill ruled that while out on bail, Daulton is required to be fingerprinted and is not to purchase or possess firearms. TA probable cause hearing is scheduled for August 8.
Daulton’s attorney is Neil Halttunen of Jarvis, Bridge, Halttunen and Weyer. His office is in Albany. Before earning his law degree he was a police officer in Springfield. According to the JBH&W website, Halttunen specializes in DUI cases and felonies.
