ATHENA – The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man who allegedly used a rifle and a knife during a physical confrontation with his stepfather late Saturday night in Athena.
The sheriff’s office reports that they were responding to a fight in progress with a gun and a knife involved. Upon arriving, the responding deputy determined that the altercation was between Brandon Creel, 36, and his 58-year-old stepfather.
Creel was taken into custody and booked into Umatilla County Jail early Sunday morning. He is facing felony charges of unlawful use of a weapon (attempted), and being a felon in possession of a weapon. He also faces misdemeanor charges of two counts of menacing and one count of second-degree criminal mischief (vandalism).
UCSO states that their deputy was backed up at the scene at 150 East Currant St. by officers from the Oregon State Police and Umatilla Tribal Police.
